STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE IN ECUMENICAL PASTORAL LEADERSHIP

The Pastor is our friend, our counselor, our preacher and our spiritual guide. Pastors are called upon to be bi-lingual — speaking the language of new generational groups who are seeking connection with the Christian faith and long-term church members who are nourished by routine traditions. Shaping and leading excellent worship or stewardship is a moving target as pastors seek to sustain faithful, long-term members and simultaneously reach out to new-comers in the language, technology, and music of different generations and ethnic groups. At the center of The Institute for Clergy Excellence is the pastor, because we realize that clergy have the potential and ability to empower congregations who strive to make our world a better place.

It is for our pastors that ICE commits itself to a nurturing peer-group learning method of education and renewal. Participants join with other pastors in groups of eight to develop a continuing education proposal that will address the concern of “Developing Pastoral Excellence through Preaching and Worship” or “Faith and Money.”

ICE enables the pastor to step away from the issues of day-to-day ministries and fosters excellence through executive-level, self-designed peer group learning experiences that provide collegial support, spiritual nurture, and ongoing renewal in ministry. These efforts enhance clergy expertise leading to congregations with a renewed passion for ministry and focus for a world in need.

ICE is equipping:

• 15 peer groups
• 114 clergy
• 22 denominations from Florida to Indiana
• 400+ laity

to be advocates for the authentic presentation of the word, and realistic financial planning which reaches into the world with the transformative message of God.
